People sometimes ask me if the paintings I use in paint parties are mine.... yes! They always are! I know there are other paint night providers that don't do this, but for me the creating is half the fun! I am a working artist and a teacher, and in order to teach art well, I believe it is essential that I be continuously creating and learning in my own practice.
Therefore, I documented my process as I created this painting for couples to paint together. I really didn't know how it was going to take form, it just happened as I painted. I had an idea of the colour scheme and the thought that the tree should be unrealistic and different from other trees I have in my repertoire. I also liked the idea of two people working together on one piece -except of course in the premiere piece I did both sides. As I painted, I took videos and commentated on my process. I'm sure it's quite boring to watch, but it shows the process I took to end up with this final piece.... and I assure you that the process at paint parties is MUCH more exciting (maybe because of the alcohol? just kidding... it's the social environment, and OK maybe a little to drink as well.) Watch my YouTube videos (one is still in the loading process so give it a day please) if you are interested, and stay tuned to see where this piece hits the Paint Party scene. If you subscribe to my Facebook events, you'll never miss out on where I'm going to be. Thanks for watching!
