Revisiting some old favourites.... I began the nursery rhyme series when my son was 6 months old. It was the spark that got me painting again after a difficult creative dive when I was overwhelmed as a new mother. I was watching old Sesame Street episodes on Netflix, and they played the "hey diddle, diddle" rhyme.... a bunch of imagery popped into my brain at that moment, and as soon as Hunter went for a nap I started drawing on the canvas... I loved taking the random images from poems and nursery rhymes and composing them into paintings.
This original 3-piece collection is currently on the walls at the wonderful new creative space called StudioMe in Okotoks. It's on Elizabeth St. above Image hair studio.
Stop in and see it, or contact me for prints... $60 each and they are just as brilliant as the originals.
12x12" acrylic on canvas
I'd love to hear some new ideas to add to this collection!
